Live Arab Quarter Band.
The Arab Quarter has now completed its first year and has a full and exciting programme of performance and teaching events listed in the Store part of www.arabquarter.co.uk. Chalf Hassan and Melanie Norman, the founders of this unique and exciting venture, are now developing their own specially branded Arab Quarter Monasaba performance events which will always support a charitable cause and work within the belly dance community to give opportunities to belly dancers to enjoy the thrill of dancing to live music.
Monasaba means "occasion" in Arabic and the name was specially chosen by Hassan to represent these very special and unique live music performances. This first Monasaba will be celebrating the achievements of The Desert Divas, a wonderfully active group in the community and lead by Carla Gale in Somerset. This show will help raise money for Respite and Recovery, a new charity founded by one of the Desert Divas, belly dancer Annette Hamilton, who is passionately committed to raising money to help provide after care for cancer patients and breaks away for family members who have had to turn into carers.
Annette is a remarkable and completely selfless woman who is devoting her life to this cause and it is a great honour for The Arab Quarter to work with her on this project. In turn Carla Gale, her teacher, is providing enormous support and encouragement to help with the success of this fund raising event. There will be a raffle and a large room for a souk with exciting stalls - this will of course include the chance to buy a specially signed newly produced Arab Quarter CD by Chalf Hassan which is an absolute treasure for both teachers and students! Annette will be selling ideal Christmas gifts too. All in all, a wonderful evening not to be missed!
