Belly Dance Holidays (Part 3)

Nile dinner cruise and oriental dance show

Day 5 - (Alexandria or 2 day Desert Safari)

  • Breakfast.
  • Alexandria (by coach 3 ½ hrs) on the journey discussion about dance in Alexandria (Founded by Alexander the Great in 312 BC).
  • Visit the catacombs of Kom ash-Shuqqafa, a Roman burial site whose family tomb consists of Egyptian and Roman art and architecture.
  • Next we visit Pompey's Pillar, an 82-foot (25-meter) granite column built to honour Emperor Diocletian.
  • Continue on to the Roman amphitheatre the best preserved Roman site in Egypt. The site also includes the remains of a Roman street and homes.
  • Lunch at Seagulls Seafood restaurant (great seafood).
  • After lunch visit the Alexandria Bibliotheca (Library) such a contrast to the ancient architecture found throughout Egypt, the Norwegian-designed building is a striking modern design. A copy of every book published in the world is housed in the library; the library also houses several exhibitions relating to the history of Egypt and rare antique books
  • Dinner at local restaurant.
  • Overnight in Alex at 3 star Hotel.

Day 6 - Free evening

  • Breakfast.
  • Tour of beaches along the Alex Corniche, if weather permitting stop for a swim at one of the private beaches (entrance fees).
  • Lunch at Egyptian style restaurant.
  • Return Cairo Hotel.
  • Free evening.

Day 7 - Citadel tour

  • Early breakfast.
  • 3 hr class.
  • Citadel tour (Mohamed Ali Mosque) (entrance fees).
  • Mosques Sultan Hassan Rafai and Ibn Tulun (entrance fees).
  • Gaynor Anderson Museum to view best collection of Islamic (entrance fees).
  • Art in Cairo housed in traditional older Cairo dwellings (If time permits).
  • Lunch at Egyptian style cafe.

Night at Citadel for dinner (Al Hazar Gardens) and watch famous Tannoura Show

Day 8 - Shopping City Stars

  • Breakfast.
  • 3 hr class.
  • Shopping City Stars (best Mall in Cairo and has an upmarket Khan el Khalili section).
  • Early dinner/late lunch in City Stars restaurant.
  • Tour Cairo by night .
  • Coffee and Shisha (for those who are interested) at Egyptian style cafe.

Day 9 - Hanging Church

  • Breakfast.
  • Coptic Cairo including the Hanging Church, Church of the Virgin (Mary was there with baby Jesus) and other Coptic sites (entrance fees).
  • Sail on a Felucca on the Nile while we eat a takeaway lunch.
  • Hotel to change.
  • 5 star hotel for dinner and watch famous Egyptian dancer

Day10 - English/Egyptian pub atmosphere

  • 3 hr class.
  • Free time to pack, go to Khan for any last minute shopping or collect any costumes etc.
  • Dinner in Zemalak in an English/Egyptian pub atmosphere.
  • Marriott Hotel for Coffee (beautiful hotel on water that was once a Palace)

Day 11 - Final dance class

  • Breakfast.
  • Final dance class (if time permits need to check flight times).
  • Depart Cairo.

Additional activities for those not participating in dance classes include drumming lessons, jewellery making or shopping for such things as street wear, Manchester (Egyptian cotton sheets/towels), visiting art galleries or we can arrange for anything of your choice.
