UK Bellydance events
International belly dance congress UK

The International Bellydance Congress takes place once every two years in the UK, usually on the last weekend of September. The first edition was held in Butlin in Bognor Regis in 2007 and the second one in 2009, in Frimley, Surrey, in the Lakeside Complex.
The International Bellydance Congress is a weekend full of belly dance workshops, shows, competitions and stalls selling belly dance items. It usually starts on a Friday afternoon and lasts until Sunday night. The great thing about this event, is that the you pay a fee that is inclusive of all the belly dance workshops you can manage to do over the weekend, plus three shows (one on every night of the weekend) and entertainment after the show (i.e. live concert or belly dance disco with DJ). This makes it such great value for money and a great event.
In addition to being good value for money, the International Bellydance Congress hosts great belly dance teachers and performers, who come from different countries in the world. Just to mention a few, in 2007 there
were Randa Kamel and Raqia Hassan from Egypt, Leila Haddad from France, Horacio and Beata Cifuentes from Germany, Jim Boz and Fathiem form the USA among the others.
In 2009 there were Fifi Abdo (for the first time in Europe) and Randa Kamel from Egypt, Sadie and Anasma from the USA, Leyla and Rolando from Germany, Les Soeurs Tribales and Paola Ziliotto Boudress from Italy. Of course, in addition to all these international dancers, there are also a lot of good UK performers.
I have been to both editions of the International Bellydance Congress and I really enjoyed both times. You can read more about the Congress page 1 and Page Page 2 Congress.
