Experience & style: Valeria studied ballet and jazz dance and then she started belly dancing in 2002. She first learnt belly dance from Jeanan Haddad, an American-Iraqi teacher. She then studied in Newcastle upon Tyne with belly dancer Kay Taylor (who is also head of teacher training in JWAAD, the Josephine Wise Academy of Arabic Dance).
Afterwards, Valeria studied belly dance in Bristol with Wendy Buonaventura and in Barcelona with Aida. Valeria has also attended classes and workshops with many worldwide famous belly dancers, such as Randa Kamel, Raquia Hassan, Dandesh, Yasmina of Cairo, Sara Farouk, Josephine Wise, Jacqui Jamal, Morocco from New York, Suhaila Salimpour, Sharon Kihara from Belly Dance Superstars, Serena Ramzy and more. Valeria’s favourite styles are Egyptian baladi and Egyptian pop.
Valeria is a qualified ETM (Exercise to music) instructor, which means she has a good background in teaching safely and maximising the fitness benefits of bellydance. She has also travelled to Egypt and trained locally with teachers such as Ghazafy and Dandesha.
At the moment, in addition to continuing her training in belly dance, Valeria is exploring different dance forms, such as contemporary dance, jazz, burlesque and ballet, in order to widen her understanding of dance and keep working on her overall dancing skills. Valeria can be seen performing in the south Wales area.
